Reflections

  1. What has been especially impactful/meaningful/important to you personally and professionally?

I have had the opportunity to write, labor, and receive feedback about my work. The process of receiving rejections have been relevant to my growth, because it gives me a goal. I have also had the opportunities to be a chapter contributor, writing with my mentors. I plan to contribute to our profession through engaging and producing research of my own.

  2. Describe an area of strength that you have developed while in the program in this area of competency. What is one way you plan to utilize this strength in your vocation?

I see my ability to try and create as a strength. I have emerging interests, and I am not afraid to introduce those ideas to others. I plan to empower others to engage in research, and strengthen their spine to the heartbreak that ultimately comes with being told no.

  3. Describe an area of challenge/growth opportunity in this area of competency. What is your plan to develop excellence in this area?

An area of growth I see, is my comfortability with qualitative research. I initially struggled with process of qualitative research, however, through mentoring and teaching, I have began to look forward to utilizing this method of research. My plan is to find opportunities for qualitative research, and just do it.

  4. Reflect on how faith in Christ relates to this competency.

God blesses us differently. It’s like the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30. We sometimes receive different gifts, and some may have more than others. I need to hone the little skill I have, rather than hide it, while wishing for more.
